Dr. Rudolf Sturm served in the Waffen-SS Totenkopf division. He started the war as a panzer grenadier schütze 6.9.1939 and last promotion was Hauptsturmführer as a “Kommandeur Panzer Aufklärungs-Abt 3, Totenkopf Div.”
Sturm received the following awards: German Cross in Gold 14.11.1944. Iron Cross first class 1939 8.4.1942. Iron Cross second class 1939 2.10.1941. Wound badge (class unknown) 17.4.1942. East front medal 19.7.1942. Infantry assault badge 19.5.1942. Close combat clasp 14.10.1943. Demjansk shield, 31.12.1943.
The grouping consists of following items:
Dr. Rudolf Sturm’s German Cross in Gold. The reverse of the pin is well marked with theimpressed, manufacturer’s numerical code, “20”, indicating manufacture by “C. F. Zimmerman, Pforzheim”. The cross is in good, still used condition with some wear marks and light paint loss to all exposed parts.
Infantry assault badge, constructed of non ferrous alloy metal. Signs of age and use. Complete with functional hinge, pin and catch.
Wound Badge in black, 1939 version. Complete with clear signs of age and use.
Uniform removed ribbons for Iron cross second class 1939 and East front medal.
Heer style “Hauptmann” shoulder boards. With clear signs of age and use. What is really interesting, Dr Rudolf as seen on the pictures included in the grouping used Heer style shoulder boards!
Two clear and very nice photos picturing Rudolf with full uniform and awards. The pictures meassures 10,5cm x 7,5cm. In very good condition.
Different period maps from Cherkassy with hand writings and front line positions clearly marked. There is also a captured Russian map with Russian writings. There is also a German translation for the map included.
