Police NCO´s Sword, Höller Solingen

The sword’s total length in scabbard is 100cm. The roughly 85 cm long nickel/silver plated drop forged steel construction blade features fullers to each side. The blade is in overall Fair condition with some pitting and surface scratches and scuffs. The blade is maker marked for “Höller” Solingen” logo. The blade has its original brown leather washer intact. The hilt consists of a nickel/silver plated tooled steel cross guard ferrule “D” knuckle bow pommel and a black dyed wooden grip with an inset die struck silverplated copper police eagle (which most certainly is a replacement, and may even be a reproduction) swastika and wreath emblem. The plain cross guard features a downward curving arm to one end and extends upwards into the “D” knuckle bow with a raised central spine. The ferrule is ornamented with a vertically embossed repeating oak-leaf and acorn design. The plain pommel has a screwed on oval tang nut. The hilt fittings all retain about 75% of their age dulled nickel/silver plated finish with small spots of wear to the base steel with light to moderate surface spotting. The blackened hardwood grip features repeating horizontal grooves for a secure grip and shows spots of chafe wear revealing the underlying natural tan of the wood. The sword comes complete with its original, magnetic sheet metal construction scabbard with a black painted finish, an integral bottom drag and a nickel/silver plated top fitting. The scabbard retains about 80 % of its original black  painted finish, some minor scrapes and scuffs revealing the base metal. The scabbard has no visible markings.

Still a nice Police NCO Sword!!!
