Luftwaffe Air Gunner's / Flight Engineer's Badge

The Air Gunner’s/Flight Engineer’s qualification badge was introduced by order of Hermann Göring on June 1942 for award to air gunners, flight engineers, and flight meteorologists who had met the required criteria.

Two piece, die struck  badge made of high quality Tombak. The eagle is secured to the wreath by two rivets which are visible on the reverse. The badge shows nice quality detailing including a cut-out to the top arm of the swastika. Hinge, pin and catch all intact and fully functional. The reverse of the eagle is well marked with the stamped manufacturers logo “A” for company “Assmann”. The badge is in very good condition with virtually all silver finish intact to the wreath, the eagle has lost virtually all of the grey / black paint, most likely polished at one point of time.
