Japanese WWII or Prewar Army Officer's Visor Cap in Good Condition

325.00

A prewar or early WWII officers visor cap made of high quality khaki colored wool. The cap is nearly unworn and comes in a very nice complete condition. However, there are a few small tears and a 1cm wide hole in the enameled leather sweat band. There is no moth damage except for the one at the edge of the left side, which is, however, is not visible from outside. The black ersatz leather chinstrap shows some minor loss of its surface coating but is fully workable as the adjustment sliders move smoothly. One of the brass buttons that attach the chinstrap to the cap body appears to be period replaced. The army brass star affixed to the red wool center band shows bronze patina as sign of age. The black silk lining is complete with the maker logo “Yokoyama” which is seen partly faded. (Many tailors had used English or Roman letters for their brand marks before Japan banned the public use of English after it started the war against the English-speaking countries.) In any case, this is a scarce prewar style military cap in a remarkably nice untouched condition.

Rare, large size (57cm-58cm) that fits any mannequin head!!
