Heer Infantry EM/NCO'S M34 Overseas Cap, Produced 1939

795.00

Field-grey wool construction cap with fold down side and back panels. As is typical the fold down panels are handstitched in the upright position at the front center of the cap. The front center of the cap has a early machine woven, national eagle in grey threads on a cut-out woven, grey rayon base. The eagle is neatly handstitched to the cap. (early eagles and cockades like this was used from 1934 and started to be phased out in 1939 with the intruduction of the new grey insignias on field-grey backing). The front center of the fold down panels has a machine woven, early national cockade on a woven, diamond shaped, grey rayon base. The cockade is machine stitched to the cap. The cap has a white rayon inverted “V” soutache indicating service with the Infantry. The soutache has been applied in the correct manner, being machine stitched in place and inserted through two, small, puncture holes near the bottom edge of the cap.

The cap has a natural, ferrous metal ventilation grommet to either side. The interior of the cap is fully lined in grey cotton. Clearly, size, maker and year of production (1939) in black ink. The cap is in good, little used condition with light signs of age and real use. No holes, rips or mendings.

Really nice cap which is super hard to find with the early insignias!!
