German WWII Feldgendarmerie Gorget

695.00

Military Field Police breast plate “Feldgendarmerie”, the so-called “Gorget” nick named “chained dogs”. Constructed of stamped, non ferrous light weight steel. The gorget is coated in silver paint. To the front is a national eagle and a “Feldgendarmerie” banner. “Feldgendarmerie” has it’s original and still luminous paint still intact. Botht the eagle and prongs was repainted a long time ago and does not glow in the dark. What makes this gorget really interesting is the unit marking in black ink to the reverse which reads: “3 Fg.A.682”. Also stamped to the front is the same unit numers “3/682” which make this gorget highly researchable. The gorget comes complete with pressed paper backing and chain. The gorget shows clear signs of age and real use, with wear marks to exposed parts and some superficial rust.

A super cool and researchable gorget, this example was originally discovered in France (which might help in the research)!!
