Artillery 8th Rgt Oberst Old Style Service Tunic With Aiguillette

High quality, field-grey wool construction tunic with a subtle whipcord weave. The tunic features a five button front closure with dual metal hooks and eyes at the neck. The tunic has a lay down, blue/green badge cloth collar with red wool officer collar tabs machine sewn in place. The edge of the left front closure panel is fully trimmed in red wool while the edge of the right front closure panel has the white wool waffenfarbe running from the waistline to the bottom of the tail skirt. The tunic features two pleated patch breast pockets and two pleated patch hip pockets. To the right chest above the breast pocket is a Heer officer national eagle neatly hand sewn in place. The eagle is in good condition with a couple of moth nips. Award loops for two badges and a long ribbon bar. To the shoulders are sewn on Oberst’s shoulder boards with unit number “8” pinned in place. There is an additional button sewn under the right shoulder board to attach the aiguilette. The aigulette comes with the tunic. The interior of the tunic is fully lined in green rayon with off white striped sleeves. The buttons are all the silver washed, pebbled, magnetic sheet metal type and appear to have their original stitching. The tunic is in good still little used condition with a couple of pin-head sized wear spots. All in all very good condition. The tunic is also, for the period large size.
