German Colonial Decoration of Honour,  also called “Elephantenorden”

The Colonial Decoration of Honour, also called “Elephantenorden” was a German decoration established on April 18, 1922 by the Reich Ministry for Reconstruction of the German Republic. The decoration was awarded to colonial German and foreign nationals who had served in the former German colonies and protectorates during the First World War. Between 1924 and December 31, 1935 the Decoration was awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and between 1936 and 1945 the Chancellor, Adolf Hitler.

 

The badge is constructed of die stamped blackened ferrous metal. Size is approx : 38mm x 33mm. Reverse with original fastening device and numbered “33992”. The badge is in very good condition with a light age patina.

 

Pretty scarce badge which will be very hard to find in better condition!!
