Named Close Combat Clasp in Bronze With Photo And Close Combat Days Document

Injection molded, alloy construction clasp with a bronze washed finish. The clasp has a blued finished, magnetic sheet metal backing plate positioned behind the eagle, bayonet and grenade motif that is held in place by crimped, side tabs on the reverse (the plate has been glued back in place). The reverse has a integral, hinge a broad, pin and a soldered catch on a circular base plate inset into a circular recess. The reverse is well marked with the embossed designer’s name and location, “F. E. C. W. E. Peekhaus Berlin”, and the manufacturer’s embossed initials and location, “Ausf: A.G. M.u.K. Gablonz”, indicating manufacture by Arbeitsgemeinschaft Metall und Kunststoff of Gablonz. The badge is in very good condition with most of the original bronze color still intact.

 

The badge comes with a period photo picturing Emil König in uniform. The picture meassures 7.5cm x 10.5cm. Name and date Nov 1942 hand written in black ink to the reverse.

 

Also included is a “Nahkampftage” (close combat days) document for Uffz Emil König, serving in 3/Grenadier Rgt 419. 10 close combat days are listed, fifteen was required to receive the close combat clasp in bronze. The document was signed by a Captain. The document shows signs of age.
