Rare Japanese WW2 Boxed Set of Sake Bottle and Sake Cups And Wooden Tray

An unused full boxed set of a sake bottle and 6 sake cups. They all has the same handpainted design of an army helmet and
a Japanese sword against the backdrop of a red half-circle, probably, the sun rising on the horizon. Everything here is intact and undamaged. The sake bottle and cups comes with an unused black lacquered wooden tray in the original cardboard box.
It’s 24cm squared and has the depth of 3.5cm. The tray commemorates an army veteran’s safe return and his honorable discharge from the military.The tray has hand-painted images of Japanese flags, an army helmet, a bloomed cherry blossom branch, a map of China, and a poem which coveys a homecoming veteran’s sense of happiness. The poem goes:

“I decided to dedicate my life to the Emperor, but my life was saved. So, today, I can see the cherry blossoms in my hometown.” The place names in the map of Japanese occupied China includes major cities and regions including Beijing, Nanjing, Tianjin, Hankou, Nanchang,
Nansha, Xuzhou, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Shanxi, Shandong, Hebei, Manchuria, etc.

The tray was preserved in a beautiful unused condition, but there is a minor crack on the backside lacquered surface. (With changes in the levels of humidity and temperature over years, a wooden tray would very slightly expand or contract, causing minor cracks on the surface of lacquer coating. It’s a typical storage wear often encountered on old wooden trays. Again, it’s a sign that the tray is more
then 70 years old!.
